Do you strive to be happy?
Do you wonder why you're not happier?
Do you feel like something is missing?
Does the struggle seem to get more difficult when you try harder?
Understanding "how we work" can help us ease up the struggle.
We tend to seek out pleasure and to avoid pain.
Seems simple and smart right?
However, we get in a never-ending cycle of tug of war with life.
Seeking out pleasure and avoiding pain doesn't actually make us"happy."

Understanding how to live skillfully through pleasure and pain actually helps us feel better.
From this practice, we begin to connect to an underlying steadiness, a foundation of joy.
Joy is not reliant on outside circumstances as much.
When we create our "okness" from inside, we don't seek pleasure and avoid pain as much.
How might you practice steadying the waves of ups and downs in your life?
How can you stop the rollercoaster of needing to be "happy" and enjoying your life- as it is?
