The Art of Slowing Down

We all know that we need reminders to enjoy our lives, to keep our priorities in view,

and to "stop and smell the roses." But do we do it?

How do we get caught up again and again?

How do you actually choose a lifestyle without getting swept away

with the day to day rhythm of culture?

Living by our own inner rhythms and values is the secret to a fulfilling life.

And that may not always align with those around us. And that's ok.

This is why we don't always do it.

Why it's easier on many levels to work harder and to live "traditional" lives.

But on this 4th of July holiday, I offer a different view of "independence."

Of maybe not following the status quo.

Progress may not be as perfect as our marketing world may lead us to believe.

Things to consider-

what do you long for?

what does it mean to you to connect to nature?

do you feel something missing?

does filling your days with things to do actually feel right?

what is the good life for you?

Maybe during this long summer,

you might actually step outside your typical world,

and reconnect to a different rhythm?

Live into a true mindfulness of real life?

Why not begin this holiday?

Maybe skip the cookout (what??????)

and take a deep dive into really connecting to your family in a new way?

Or reflecting on what "independence" in this short life means to you?

Play more? Serve more? Live more?
